“I have to say that I was amazed. My sciatica pain went overnight after just my first treatment. Thank you so much”
Reflexology is a therapy that deals with the principle that there are reflexes in the feet and hands relevant to each and every part of the human body.
Reflexology is an incredibly relaxing treatment, and most people state that it relaxes tension, improves nerve and blood supply and restores balance (homeostasis) to the body.
All internal and external body parts are reflected by pressure points in the feet and hands. Every physical and emotional experience the body has from conception is registered and remembered by the body and is reflected by textures and tender areas that develop in the feet and hands, these are highlighted by the Reflexologist when these points are activated. These areas relate to directly stressed, (the disorder), or indirectly stressed body parts where blood flow is blocked and where the disorder exists.
Reflexology is done using a specific finger/thumb microstimulation technique of the pressure points of the feet or hands. This relaxes and opens up energy pathways, which revitalises the body and supplies it with energy on all levels. It has been known to restore mental alertness and improve the attention span. This stimulates the body's own healing mechanism.
General benefits from the treatments can be found on our Benefits page.

“Heavenly. After the treatment I got the first good nights sleep in 2 months!”
A full consultation is taken before the treatment, checking for any contraindications to treatment. Details about your general health, medication, diet and hobbies will be discussed. You will then be asked to relax in a reclined position, either on a massage couch or recliner, and made as comfortable as possible.
The feet or hands will then be treated using the specific finger/thumb microstimulation technique of the pressure points. Either an oil based balm or powder may be used on the areas that are being worked on.
During the treatment you may feel some tenderness or textures in certain parts of the feet/hands. This indicates a direct or indirect issue to those parts of the body represented by that pressure point. As the area is worked on by the reflexologist the tension is released, the blood flow improves and the waste products are removed over a period of time and in their own way. e.g. runny nose, backache, increased use of toilet, loss of energy. This is known as a "healing crisis", and all of these symptoms are normal and will subside in time. To aid the treatment you will be given a luxurious foot massage at the start and end of each treatment.
Follow up and after care advice will be given at the end of the session, and possibly some "homework", where you will be shown how to work specific points on your hands yourself in between treatments. General lifestyle advice, including dietary advice will also be given related to your individual needs.
Full treatments are 1 hour long, where specific problems can be looked at further.
Half an hour treatments can also be done as general treatments or as an introduction.
The reflexology sessions can also be combined with any of the other therapies into a 1 ½ hour treatment.
Maternity Reflexology is tailored to care for the mind, body and spirit of mother to be and the unborn baby. This can start as early as preconception, and then is carried out through all stages of pregnancy, labour and the post-natal period.
Many couples who are trying to conceive use reflexology as an aid to increasing their fertility. All treatments are catered for each individual so a treatment programme will be discussed with you at the first appointment.
Reflexology, is a safe and practical therapy for pregnant women, which can be safely used at any stage of the pregnancy if the treatments are given by a fully trained Maternity Reflexologist. The Maternity Reflexology can help to energise and revitalise, giving a healthier pregnancy and has been known to give a shorter, easier labour/delivery and recovery after the birth.
Many birth centres will allow a reflexologist to attend during labour. This is because they recognise the benefits of Reflexology in relieving the pain of contractions, and helping to give an easier birth. You should consult your midwife or birth centre to seek their permission before taking a reflexologist with you.
