Reflexology
What Happens During a Treatment?
A full consultation is taken before the treatment, checking for any contraindications to treatment. Details about your general health, medication, diet and hobbies will be discussed. You will then be asked to relax
in a reclined position, either on a massage couch or recliner. I will then work the feet or hands using the finger/thumb microstimulation technique of the pressure points, using body powder to reduce any friction.
You may feel some tenderness or textures in certain parts of the feet/hands during the treatment. This indicates a direct or indirect malfunction to those parts of the body represented by that pressure point. As the
area is worked the tension is released, the blood flow improves and the waste products are removed over a period of time and in their own way. e.g. runny nose, backache, increased use of toilet, loss of energy.
This is known as a "healing crisis", and all of these symptoms are normal and will subside in time. To aid the treatment
you will be given a luxurious foot massage at the start and end of each treatment.
Follow up and after care advice will be given at the end of the session, and possibly some "homework", where you will be shown how to work specific points on your hands yourself in between treatments.
General lifestyle advice, including dietary and muscle stretching, will also be given related to your individual needs.
Full treatments are 1 hour long, where specific problems can be looked at further. Half an hour treatments can also be done as general treatments.
