Introduction

Thermo-Auricular® Therapy is the professional use of Hopi Ear Candles, which are used to aid relaxation, relief of ear, nose & throat conditions and associated problems.

There is a lot of evidence that the ancient civilizations used things similar to ear candles to treat various conditions. However, it is mainly through the Hopi Indians of North Arizona that this treatment become more widely known and used.

Hopi means "peaceful people", and for many centuries the Hopi people lived in harmony with nature and Motherearth. The ear candles were used by the tribe in healing rituals and ceremonies, to cleanse and harmonise energy fields and to drive out negative energies as well as a physical clearance therapy for problems relating to the ear, nose and throat.

Hopi ear candles are hollow tubes made from sheets of organic flax (linen), which are impregnated with a special formula that includes honey, chamomile, sage, St. John's Wort, betacarotene and is coated in beeswax. Each of these elements has a beneficial and soothing effect on the ear, nose and throat. The candles have a small filter at one end, in the shape of the Hopi tribe's Motherearth symbol.

The candles work on a chimney principle and a gentle vibration of air, which gently draws out impurities and stimulates the circulation of blood and lymph. This helps to balance the pressure and fluid in the ears and head.

This treatment can be done as a stand alone treatment for one hour, or it can be linked to other therapies such as Reflexology, Facial Rejuvenation, Indian Head Massage and Holistic Facials.
