FAQs

Do you have a question about any aspect of our clinics or treatments? Then take a look below at the FAQs to see if the answer is there, there are different sections for different treatments.

General Enquiry

Our price list can be found on our Locations page and also on the appointment booking form. Alternatively you can contact us for information.

We are in different locations on different days throughout the week. Exact days and times can be found on the Location page under each clinic address.

As a general rule, we have clinics Monday to Friday and are closed on weekends and bank holidays.

The consultation forms provides the practitioner with all the necessary details about your health and lifestyle so that they can give you the best treatment or combination of treatments.

Information required, apart from your name and contact details, are your health problems, allergies, stress levels, diet, sleep patterns, any surgery you may have had – plus any other information which may be necessary to complete the treatment.

Any information given is completely private and confidential, and your details are never shared with anyone else, nor with any other company or database.

In addition, the consultation form is a legal requirement, and is necessary under the practitioner’s insurance. As such we cannot do a treatment without the completed consultation sheet.

We know that things often come up so we ask that you give us a minimum of 48 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment.

Calm and Clear has a 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that you may be charged the full amount if cancellations are made with less than 48 hours notice before your appointment time.

If there has been an emergency within 48 hours of your appointment time then please contact us.

No, I'm sorry but if you have any sort of cough, cold, runny nose etc then we ask if you can re-schedule your appointment.  If this is within the cancellation time frame then please let us know ASAP.

If you have a fever then you definitely cannot have a treatment.

If you have a cough, runny nose, sore throat etc then please contact us straight away.

If you do not notify us in advance and you arrive for your treatment you may be turned away, but the full charge could apply (as per the 48 hour cancellation policy).

If it is your first treatment we advise arriving 5 to 10 minutes earlier than your allocated time so that you can locate the clinic.  Arriving early will also allow you to go to the bathroom and settle before your session.

Our treatment times includes time to revive at the end of the treatment, but you are welcome to wait for longer in the waiting room should you want to rest for a bit longer before you leave.

Please notify us as soon as possible if you are running late, the contact details will be on the appointment confirmations that are emailed to you.

We will try to accommodate your treatment with the time that remains for your scheduled appointment, but this may need to be adapted slightly to fit in with the reduced appointment time.

If there are no bookings directly after you then the practitioner may be able to offer you the full appointment time, but this is at their discretion. This will not be possible if there are bookings directly after your appointment time.

If you are running more than 30 minutes late for a 1 hour appointment it may be necessary to re-schedule it.

The full charge will apply for the treatment (as per the 48 hour cancellation policy).

Absolutely! In fact, sometimes it often enhances the treatment if you combine more than one at the same time.

Ideally any combination of treatments should be done with a 1 1/2 hour or 2 hour appointment to make sure that you get the best of both treatments. However, 1 hour combination treatments can also be done if you really want it (but we advise against this option).

Examples of a combined treatment are:

Facial Rejuvenation with Holistic Facial

MLD face massage with Facial Rejuvenation

It is best to contact us if you would like to discuss having a combination treatment, so that we can work out the best combination for you.

All of our therapy rooms are mobile phone free zones, and we respectfully ask clients to turn their phones off or on silent once in the buildings and in the therapy rooms to avoid disturbing other treatments. It also enhances the relaxation of the treatments if your phones are not on to disturb you.

Please speak to your practitioner if you need to keep your phone on during the treatment for any reason, as we understand that there can be times that you need to reachable by phone.

Reflexology Enquiry

Yes, absolutely!

The specific finger and thumb techniques which are used work deeply into a precise point, so it does not cause a ticklish sensation. The pressure is always kept firm enough for it not to be ticklish.

Reflexologists use things like verrucas, fungal infections, corns, bunions and callouses as signs about a person’s health. It is generally fine to receive a treatment if you have one of these things, but please ensure that any veruccas are covered up with a plaster before the treatment to prevent any cross-infection.

A fungal infection, like Athlete’s foot or a nail fungal infection, may mean that we cannot do the reflexology on you particularly if it’s quite wide spread on the feet or it looks infected.

If you are unsure if you can still have a treatment then please contact us.

Overall, reflexology is deeply relaxing. However, if there is an area of congestion specific pressure points may feel slightly tender when the are worked on by the reflexologist.

The sensations can vary from person to person but may feel like a bruise, pin prick or electricity jolts. At the time of your treatment the reflexologist will discuss the sensations with you and can deal with them at the time.

If you don’t feel any tenderness or sensations then it does not mean that the treatment isn’t working. It could just mean that during that particular treatment there were no deeply sensitive pressure points.

Face treatment Enquiry

The Facial Rejuvenation massage (also called the Indian Face Massage or Natural Facelift massage) is a 1 hour face massage treatment, which does not use any products. This treatment gently tones and lifts the skin, and leaves the mind feeling deeply relaxed and energised. It has been known to help reduce fine lines.

The Holistic Facial is a 1 hour traditional facial with a twist. Selected natural and organic products are used to cleanse, tone, exfoliate and massage your skin to leave it deeply cleansed and nourished. The “twist” is the facial diagnosis techniques which are used to link the internal health with the external.

The Manual Lymph Drainage face treatment is usually 1 hour long and also does not use any products. This treatment is lighter than the average massage and is ideal for any puffiness, water retention, sinus congestion and post surgery.

The Ultimate Facial Combination is a 90 minutes treatment, which combines a mini facial with the Facial Rejuvenation massage or MLD face. The mini facial uses the best organic skincare products to deeply cleanse and nourish the skin. The whole treatment has the benefits of the Facial Rejuvenation, plus the added benefits of the organic mini facial.

We have a link to a chart which shows the difference on our Face Treatments page.

Indian Head Massage Enquiry

Oil is only used in your hair if you specifically request it – or if we have agreed this in advance.

Usually the Indian Head Massage treatments do not use oil. However, in some instances oils can be extremely beneficial for the scalp and hair. If you do not wish to have oil in your hair at the time of the massage then we can advise you about oils which you can use at home.

Any corporate based Indian head massage will never involve the use of oils.

The Indian Head Massage treatment is done with you sitting fully dressed in a chair.

There is no need for you to undress as the massage can be done through the clothes.

Ear Candling Enquiry

There have been some reports about some people who have been burned inside their ears when they have used ear candles themselves at home, or someone who is not properly trained has done their treatment for them.

At Calm and Clear we are fully trained in thermo-auricular therapy (ear candling) and in the use of an otoscope.  An otoscope is an instrument used to look inside the ear to check the overall health inside and to rule out any reasons that treatment cannot be done (redness, inflammation, damaged ear drum etc).

We only use safety certified ear candles from Biosun too (there are other brands on the market that have not been safety tested).

We also double check other things that may rule out reasons for the treatment not to be done - eg. if someone has used oil or drops in their ears within 48 hours of the ear candling session.

The ear candling treatment should never hurt, and the therapist is trained to make sure that everything is done properly to rule out any chances of burning or damage.

There is no evidence to show that the ear candles can suck up the wax inside the ears.

However the warmth from the candles can sometimes soften or hydrate the wax, and the chimney like effect of the candles creates air vibration that may help break down large pieces of the wax.

Some clients often find that the wax in their ears reduces or falls out itself after a session.
